Natalia Valdez Mrs. Lehmann English 2-2B 16 October 2019 Crazy Adventure It was a warm spring day in March the birds were chirping, and the rain had finally let up. Four girls were laughing and in deep conversation as they made their way off the yellow school bus. As they entered the house, they could smell the sweet aroma of chocolate cake baking in the oven. “Hi, girls!” yelled mom from inside the kitchen. “We are home mom” said Natalia. “Do you girls want something to drink?” said Mom. “Yes, please,” said the girls. As they gathered around the kitchen counter, Mother pored a large glass of strawberry lemonade for each girl. The girls thanked Mrs. Valdez. They grabbed their drinks and headed towards Natalia`s bedroom. They threw their belongings on the floor and gathered around on the floral queen-sized bed. They girls looked around the room and brought out some year books, which brought a lot of memories. After looking at the differences in people from different years, they talked about their crushes. They all giggled at each other's.
They all decided to head outside. Dad had just got home from work and Natalia had asked for the four-wheeler keys. Her father handed the keys with a warm birthday hug, greeting Lexi, Rosie, and Kiya. The girls piled up on the 3-seat four-wheeler, even though they were jammed like a can of sardines. They girls could feel their hearts pounding due to the excitement, but worried about Natalia’s driving. The motor started rumbling beneath them. Natalia put it in first gear and took off. At first, it was a slow start, but quickly they gained more speed. The cold wind sent goosebumps down their bodies. “You’regoing too fast,” yelled Rosie. She quickly tucked her hair towards the back of her hoodie. She took the strings from her hoodie and made a small circle so she could only barley see. As they drove, they sped up to 35#. There was mud flying in the air, and the girls had become worried that they would get dirty, but at the same time they were carefree and enjoying the moment.Suddenly, a large clump of mud came flying into Rosie’s right eye.Natalia was too focused on what had just happened to her friend, and she no longer paid attention to the road. All the friends were laughing hysterically with tears about to roll down their faces. “OMG. I need to pee!” said Lexi in laughter. “Look at the road, Natalia!” exclaimed Kiya. As the sun started to set, they headed back home. All were happy and content with the adventure. They ended the night by getting cleaned off, having snacks, and watching movies.
Narrative Reflection
1. Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific. The process I went threw writing this paper was I had to brainstorm what I wanted to write a about, have dialogue, and have a beginning, middle and end.
2. What qualifies this paper as a narrative? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them? Some qualities of a narrative essay are dialogue, imagery and Show don't tell. To meet these requirements I used dialogue were I had to have a conversational exchange between two or more people. For imagery I used human senses to deepen the readers understanding. Lastly I used show don't tell by using different texts to allow the reader to experience the story.
3. What is one part of your story that you think turned out really well? What do you like about that part? One of my story I think I did well is using show don't tell, I used different types of texts to allow the reader to experience the story through thoughts, senses, and feelings.
